I apologize if this switch throws anyone off, but I've been using the same moniker since I was fourteen and to be honest, I outgrew it about six years ago. So I felt that it was time to retire my old journal and move into a new one. I'm using this moniker on quite a few other sites, which you'll see in the introduction post, but most of you know me as Heather anyway. This journal is still friends only, but just comment on my introduction post and as long as I'm sure you aren't a spam bot, I'll add you back.

So uh, in the past week I have beaten two video games, marathoned two seasons of Game of Thrones, gotten sick, worked excessively, and read half of Dance with Dragons. Bioshock Infinite I beat in three days and just, mindfuck. The gameplay was still lovely even if the last battle took me four tries. The ending of Final Fantasy 13-2 however... was fucking terrible. I won't spoil anyone, but the quote 'rocks fall everybody dies' comes to mind.

And now, unpopular opinion time about the new Percy Jackson trailer!

Tyson is... a million times not what I pictured. He looks too human for one and he's too fucking attractive. Second, Clarisse. Can we talk about the fact that Clarisse is a skinny little pretty twig? And how fucking aggravating that is? Because Clarisse is supposed to be more homely than beautiful and y'know, big-boned? What happened to that, huh? Does everyone have to be fucking gorgeous? Fuck you Hollywood, my favorite thing about those books is that it takes all these outcasts and throws them together. Just. Ugh.

Though I am happy that Annabeth is blonde in this movie and the Hippocampus looks pretty.

Also, had Nick's mom cut off all my hair because it was giving me headaches. Now there is about a foot of hair that Nick might actually glue to his scalp if I leave it in the room too long. I like it though! It feels nice and this way I can strip the black out of my hair and dye it back easy. So woot, short hair and my neck isn't killing me anymore.

...However I also might have strep, so I guess the good things are really balancing out the bad ones.

So, my last day at the Olentangy store was on the seventh. Naturally, I celebrated this by getting deathly ill. As in, bedridden for days on end. That kind of deathly ill. So I've been pretty damn miserable, though Skyward Sword and various books have been keeping me entertained. And then, Mal's been a complete sweetheart. She will not leave my side at all. If I get up to shower, she lays outside the bathroom until I'm done, if I go downstairs to try for the computer she sits beside me. And if I'm on the computer for too long, she'll try to lead me back upstairs, purring plaintively until I follow her back to bed. My adorable sweetheart cat.

But yes, I actually celebrated my last day by purchasing an ingenuiTEA teapot, the Mycroft, Reichenbach Recovery, and TARDIS blends off of Adagio Teas, because I've always wanted to buy tea from there, but kept putting it off. I'm also interested in the Donovan and Katniss blends, because they also sound delicious. But I'm in love with slightly too-sweet tea, so I got sweet teas. I can't wait to try them. I also spoiled myself by buying a star projector and a mushroom nightlight, because there is not enough light in the guest bedroom I've been renting out. Which by the way, there is also that. So if you think you have my address and are planning on surprising me with something, you don't actually have my address anymore. So uh, contact me for that.

In other news, Hugo is a delightful movie and put me in one of the best moods I've been in for months, and since I'm pretty sick atm, this is quite the accomplishment. It's gorgeous though, and the score really makes the movie. Absolutely lovely. I've wanted to see the movie for awhile, but it wasn't until I saw the collection of kidlock pictures and this fantastic video featuring little!Sherlock and little!John, that I actually downloaded it. Also, this video is fantabulous.

First, I would like to warn you that I started writing this entry on the 18th, so... yeah. There's that. Second, it is deceptively long. Those lj cuts just cannot be trusted.

So, last night (Monday the 17th) I picked up Catching Fire- thinking that I'd read a chapter or so and drift off to sleep? Yeah, see, that didn't happen. What DID happen is I marathon read the entire freaking thing between the hours of 5-9am. Yeah. Why I was trying to READ A BOOK in an attempt to put myself to sleep at five in the morning is beyond me. I have no excuses. And I don't feel like cutting so no spoilers but OH MY GOD, I LOVE FINNICK. I mean, I knew I would. I'd been spoiled enough about him that I knew he'd be a favorite character but holy crap, I loved him. Way more than I like any of the other characters and I don't even know why.

The books kind of annoy me in parts (my ear they reconstructed can hear the force field? Really, Katniss?) but again, I am astounded by how much I just COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. It just really reels you in- like, I'm not even gonna lie, I'm not the BIGGEST fan of Katniss. She could be a stronger character, and I think if the whole love triangle thing was out of the way she'd seem less shallow and Bella Swan-esque. (Okay, I'm sorry, comparing them was too much. These books are actually better than Twilight.) But she does damn well for a girl thrown into this kind of conflict- and again, I usually hate first person so much. Like, I usually can't even get into it unless it's written really well, and like- parts of this definitely are. There are some Mary Sue elements there, but they don't make up her character.

Anyway. I digress. FINNICK IS AWESOME. Now I have to go read Mockingjay so I don't keep myself awake again.

Annnd,  [livejournal.com profile] halcyon_iota   asked me a couple more questions from this meme, so here are those answers.

Q & A )

Lol, Repo/Hunger Games crossover would be kind of epic. Finished Mockingjay. (Tuesday the 18th) I was sadfaced. It's like clockwork, I swear. And.... have the second part of the 5000 question meme.

Part 2: Questions 101-200 )

(Friday the 21st) It's one of those days- sun is shining, sky is blue, there are nice fluffy clouds and there are cats sleeping all around you because you are warm and you think, "Damn, it's gonna be a good day." And then you realize that the sunshine is deceptive, it's actually 11 degrees, and one of the cats has puked in your hair.

Also, I played through four basement levels of Re:CoM Rebirth/Reverse in like, two hours last night. Epic. Maybe if I finally finish CoM I can get around to finishing Math Days and Birth by Sleep.

And lastly, a fic meme, because I am still stuck in the land of writer's block. And I live for domestic fic. Also, heads up- this meme is kind of a meme to get me out of writers block so I can finish up that other Mistletoe meme, so I'm not ignoring it, I swear.

Give me a pairing, and then give me an everyday setting (coming home from work, waking up in the morning, going grocery shopping, etc.) and I'll write a short drabble involving said pairing in said situation. You can ask for pairings that have already been requested, and be as creative as you want with the situations!
