Haha. Ha. Um. Actually most people realize that Sheik is SUPPOSED to be Zelda in the game. There is just a very select group of us who refuses to acknowledge that fact and live quietly in denial. Well, that's not really true. I know that Sheik is Zelda in game. In fact I've written that too. It's just- when I first played Ocarina of Time Sheik was my favorite character. I looked forward to all of the scenes that he was in and had the BIGGEST crush on him. So, uh, the end with him becoming Zelda kinda killed me in the way that at 10/11 or so I had never considered the idea of yanno, being gay.

Also, it's really fun to play around with the idea of Sheik. Most people that ship Link/Sheik regard Sheik himself as a separate entity who was a) hiding Zelda within himself or b) let Zelda use his body for a bit.

I believe there was at one point in time probably a minor flame war about whether or not Sheik was actually Zelda, but I think that most people realize that we're going to keep writing Sheik and still loving Sheik even if he IS Zelda.

So, uh, I don't really know if that kind of answered your question because there really isn't an answer. But yes, I write Sheik as a separate male Sheikah most of the time. I'm really glad that you liked it and that you took the time to read it even though you've never read OoT fic before. ♥
